Bindu Viswanathan

Bindu is a self-taught Austin area artist who specializes in painting, photography and gourd craft. Her art captures imaginative Indian themes on canvas, gourds and wood using acrylic paints and mixed media such as mirrors and bells. She enjoys using bright colors and symmetry to create designs that are vibrant and rich in ornamental detail. Her paintings have been exhibited in Austin's Monkey Nest and Kerbey Lane Cafes, and her gourds have won multiple awards at the Texas Lone Star Gourd Festival. Her photography captures the interplay of light and textures in nature, and has been exhibited at the Scarborough Building in downtown Austin, the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, Kerbey Lane Café, and the House of Tutors, Austin.
